Teresa Victoria Carpio, more commonly known as T. V. Carpio, is a Chinese/Filipina-American singer, songwriter and actress. She was born in Oklahoma City in 1981. She is the daughter of well-known Hong Kong singer Teresa Carpio, with whom she has performed on stage as a backup singer. T.V. can converse fluently in both English and Cantonese. Her mother has also recorded one of her compositions.
Carpio’s lone solo as Prudence in Across the Universe (2007), a movie set to 33 of The Beatles’ songs, was “I Want to Hold Your Hand.”
Carpio has also appeared on television, including a TV movie and in one episode of both The Jury and Law & Order. She made her Broadway debut in Rent as Alexi Darling and others, appearing from December 2006 until April 2007.
